Definition of simple life

Since I just started this blog, I thought I should define the title. I'll start by using a definition of the word "simple":

Not involved or complicated; easy: a simple task.
Being without additions or modifications; mere: a simple “yes” or “no.”
Having little or no ornamentation; not embellished or adorned: a simple dress.
Not elaborate, elegant, or luxurious.

The simple life is the kind of life that Ron and I strive for. In the hustle and bustle of daily living in our culture, we do not want to get caught up in all the busyness. We are choosing to live a very counter-cultural life in our day and age, and we take the criticism for it almost daily. But that is okay with us, we really enjoy our simple life. It brings us both much satisfaction.

We have chosen to live this way now, so that when our baby is here, we will keep God and family as our two biggest priorities. We want to raise our children in the same kind of atmosphere we were raised in. Sitting down together for dinner as a family each night, spending alot of time together, letting the kids just go outside and play and use their imaginations and be kids. As opposed to what we see so often in other families lives: grab some dinner at a fast food restaurant since mom has no time to cook, run all over town from one event to the next, barely having a chance to just sit and spend quality time with their kids, then hurry and get home and get everyone to bed. Then get up the next day and do it all over again. NO THANK YOU!!

I remember when my brother and I were growing up we did not spend a whole lot of time indoors. Kids did not have computers back then, and we were not allowed to just sit and watch TV all the time. We played outside alot and just made up things and played "make believe". We even made up our own games with the neighbor kids. I have alot of great memories as a child, and I want for our children to have that simple kind of life too.
